Our trip to Arcachon
This past weekend (May 1 is Labor Day in France), Lee and I went to the French coast to the west of Bordeaux for what was supposed to be a four-day weekend, but ended up being a two-day weekend because of work and the weather. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time. We stayed at a great little chambres d'hotes (B&B) in Lege-Cap-Ferret. The owners were absolutely charming, the house was beautiful and the food was excellent. We spent the two days driving around the area and taking in all the amazing scenery. The best part by far was the Dune de Pyla, an enormous dune located in the southern part of the Arcachon Basin. According to this website, it reaches a height of 107 meters! It is truly one of the most amazing things we have ever seen. The pictures don't do it justice. It took us 20 minutes of walking through
the dunes to reach the beach.
