Why I Blame Eric (History Edition)

Most of you know that we blame Eric for a number of things, but it's unlikely that you fully appreciate the scope of Eric's responsibility for world disasters, both great and small. That's why, in this first of a series, we provide you with but a small list of occasions in which Eric has played a hand in shaping the course of history through his nefarious and dastardly deeds (with photographic evidence, when available). We begin our series with events from the month of May, since that's when Eric was allegedly "born":

1. 18 May 1980 - Mount St. Helens explodes, killing sixty people.

2. 10 May 1924 - J. Edgar Hoover appointed head of the FBI.

3. 4 May 1970 - The Ohio National Guard open fire on protesting students at Kent State, killing four and wounding nine.

4. 5 May 1854 - the steamship San Francisco sinks, killing 300 people aboard.
5. 2 May 1946 - "Battle of Alcatraz" - Alcatraz Federal prison, San Francisco, is taken over by six inmates following a failed escape attempt.
6. 2 May 1975 - David Beckham born.
7. 27 May 1969 - construction begins on Walt Disney World.
8. 14 May 1932 - "We Want Beer!" parade in New York; millions suffer from unquenched thirst.
9. 31 May 1985 - New Orleans Saints sold for $70,204,000; Benson first boogies.
10. 6 May 1937 - The Hindenburg explodes in New Jersey.
