From the Mouth of Sofia (Baby Edition)

One of my colleagues recently had a baby, so on Monday Sofia and I went to bring them some presents for the newborn (Alistair) and a Christmas gift for their two-year old (Justin). Below is a snippet from the drive into Philadelphia, but first you need to know that (a) Sofia watched a LOT of Disney movies on the iPad during last week's travels and (b) Stephen and Jennifer, with whom we stayed in New Orleans, have four dogs:

Me: Sofia, do you know where we're heading?

Sofia: Uh-huh!

Me: Who are we going to see?

Sofia: Justin and Alistair Wonderland!

Me (trying not to laugh out loud): That's right, Sofia; we're going to see Justin and Alistair. Are you excited to see the baby?

Sofia: Uh-huh!

Me: You know, I don't think that you've ever seen a newborn baby.

Sofia: Yes I have, Daddy!

Me: Really? When did you see a baby?

Sofia: At Jennifer's house!

Me: But Sofia, Jennifer doesn't have a baby.

Sofia (indignantly): Yuh-huh, Daddy! Jennifer said that her dogs were her babies!
