If Derek REALLY loved Ariel...
If you've hung out with Dariel as much as we have, then you'll know about Ariel's weakness for a certain salty treat: lip-smackingly crispy bacon. Whether it's on sandwiches, in salads, or just as a mid-afternoon snack, bacon is unquestionably Ariel's first love.
Of course, now that Derek is in the picture, Ariel makes an effort to keep her passion for porcine products on the down-low. Maybe that's one of the reasons Ariel seems to enjoy coming over to my parents' house in Vegas: it allows her to carry around a little baggie of crunchy applewood smoked bacon with her all day, and if anyone asks, she can just say that she's holding it in case the dog needs a treat.
Of course, we Alexanderpools know the truth: the girl loves her some fried fatback, and there ain't nothing wrong with that. There might, however, be something wrong with this interesting concoction. I'm not sure I'd be up for trying it myself, but if Derek knows what's good for him, he'll call them up ASAP and ask if he can get a discount on bulk orders.

Two things:
1) This bacon-chocolate bar is now on our grocery list (Ariel thinks they have it at Whole Foods), so we'll let you know how it is.
2) When Ariel read this post and saw the photo you put along with it, she got silent for a few seconds and then ever-so-quietly said, "I could eat that."
yummmmmmmmmmmmm
Ariel and I have now shared a bar of bacon-chocolate, and we will now report our findings to you.
First, the chocolate itself, irrespective of the bacon contained therein, is absolutely scrumptious: rich, melting-in-your-mouth sort of milk-chocolate ("NOT the wimpy milk-chocolate," Ariel points out, "It's still real chocolate).
Now onto the bacon: the fried pork lodged in the chocolate adds a light saltiness that in fact heightens the flavor of the chocolate, particularly because the saltiness is not spread throughout but rather contained specifically within the particular bacon bits, thus leading to interspersed explosions of salty-sweet goodness. Moreover, the crispiness of the bacon gives the bar a texture not unlike that of rice crisps in a Nestle Crunch bar. The one slightly disconcerting aspect of the bacon-chocolate experience is the smokey flavor that one finds upon taking a bite of this delectable confection. After the initial surprise, however, it becomes quite an enjoyable enterprise.
On the whole, then, Dariel recommend it.
P.S. And before we get deriding reactions from Lee and/or Pegs, let me remind you that you are (or are married to) the guy who likes sugar covered waffles with chili AND sugar covered Corn Flakes with nacho cheese Doritos. You don't get to judge us.
