Greecey Baby
As most of you already know, the Alexanderpools have been in Greece for a while to soak up some sun, visit some family and protect Sofia's soul from the risk of eternal damnation. If you asked the average heterosexual male whether he would be interested in seeing a naked redhead slathered in oil splash around in a pool, odds are he probably wouldn't hesitate to respond affirmatively. If Pegs ever asks me that question again, though, first I'll make sure that she's not trying to trick me into attending another daughter's baptism. On the whole it's a beautiful ceremony, and the fact that Sofia publicly urinated all over her godmother certainly provided some comic amusement, but it's rather painful to listen to your daughter screaming in terror as she's dunked repeatedly underwater by a priest with fists the size of Thanksgiving turkeys. Still, we got some nice pictures of the Greek side of the family, and afterwards we partied to the break of 1:00 a.m. to celebrate. Ok -- now time for an inappropriate question. What the heck is going on in that picture with the big purple and pink thing with the bow? Is that a magic wand, a hose for the oil, or....well...a smoking implement?
Ok -- one more comment from the peanut gallery -- I really really like the "Sofia" buttons/badges everyone is wearing. It is very cute. Did you keep some to give out to her future dates?
Yes, that's correct Rachel. It is a magic wand, used to transport her to a land filled with milk heavy mommy boobies and Sophie The Giraffes.
Ok, that was mega lame-o, but it's the best I can do this early on a Saturday morning on little sleep and a migraine. It's actually a vase/jar/thingy that holds the blessed olive oil that she is being slathered with. The godparents provide it.
The buttons are something that Greeks in Montreal do for baptisms and the godmother really likes them so she had some made for Sofia's baptism. Usually they are about a third of that size, but the godmother felt that Sofia's face really should be super-sized. We all (sisters, cousins, etc.) had them at our baptisms and my parents saved some for us. Cheesy but cute.
